Brand New Dress, Brand New Thoughts

I started making this dress this weekend. I am SUPER proud of it. However I'm finding it difficult to sew in my home.
I know that there are people around me who are better at sewing than I am, who have gone through mass amounts of schooling and training to be the seamtress's and designers that they are today. I know that my methods, although unconventional, still get the job done.
It pains me to have creative people look at my work because I know that they are just analyzing it to the fullest extent. What happened to appreciating someone's work just because they are your friend?.... no matter how they made something.. the fact of the matter is, they still tried.

Can't we just appreciate art because it's beautiful, not not analyze every brush stroke, hemline, screen print and color scheme we see.

Maybe it wasn't successful the first or second time, but we all learn our lessons in different ways.

I can not wait until I live on my own, have my own studio, pet and space to make whatever I want, however I want, WHEN ever I want.

I know that is a long shot, but a girl can dream can't she?

              10 DUI's.. and you're NOT in jail..

CBC News - Ottawa - Drunk driver loses licence permanently

Oh Man. At what point does the law really get a chance to put it's foot down and say..

"You've been fucking up for quite a few years now, this is your 10th DUI conviction. We're taking your license away.. FOREVER!!"

I my opinion, this should have happened on his third DUI.

Words of Wisdom and Moments of Clarity

This morning I received the following email from a client:

              THINK

There was a blind girl who hated herself because she was blind.
She hated everyone, except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her.
She told her boyfriend, 'If I could only see the world, I will marry you.'

One day, someone donated a pair of eyes to her.
When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend.

He asked her,'Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?'

The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind.
The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn't expected that.
The thought of looking at them the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him.

Her boyfriend left in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying:
'Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine."

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes.
Only a very few remember what life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations.

              Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat..

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a  companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to heaven..

Before whining about the distance you drive Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around..

              -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope that this makes you think.

Let's try to make this world a better place. Whether it be through fashion, fundraisers, games, charity work or donations. Do your part to make this world a better place. Sometimes just a simple smile can change a person's ENTIRE day.

Takes your ipod out of your ears, but the cell phone down. Look up and see the world through new eyes. It's been waiting for you.

              ------

The above story makes me grateful to have started my tattoo for my family members and sad that I haven't finished it.

For those of you who do not know I had two of my siblings pass away due to car accidents. On my rib cage and shoulder blade is a tattoo in memory of them. the text says, "Yesterday is history, tomorrow's a mystery and today is a gift, that's why they call if the present"

I love this quote and it rings true to my life.
