Horoscope Compatibility?

Newly single and dating again.. I find myself looking to the stars for answers.

I have been reading my horoscope lately and I have found it to be right on point. My only real questions has to deal with compatibility charts.

Do they work and can they be used as insight to a relationship?

Here is the work up for a Gemini Woman and an Aquarious Man (ex. me and my ex Carlos):

Love Match: Gemini Woman Dating Aquarius Man

Intellectual sparks fly with this love match! The mental attraction is obvious from the first date. The Gemini woman will go weak in the knees over her Aquarius mans visionary and progressive ideas. The Aquarius man will adore his Gemini woman’s twinkle and youthful exuberance in learning something new every day.
Sexually, the Aquarius man gets the meaning of what his Gemini woman’s indecisiveness. She’s not sure what she wants or how she wants it so he just gives her his own unique love formula – and it works!
They’ll delight as they talk in detail about what they’re experiencing during sex and this couple will certainly be the great inventors in the bedroom!

 All of this is true....

Now when I actually read in-depth analysis between Gemini and Aquarius, I find that the write up still rings true to our relationship. I almost feel that having read all of these posts before getting into a relationship, or maybe just checking in, could have lead to one of two things.

1.) our relationship would have been stronger and we could have worked through the kinks before we got to them

2.) I would have seen what was coming before it hit and broke my heart.

Have you ever felt this way before? Have you have relied on the stars to tell you what is right and wrong for your sign?

As I step into the dating world I find myself turning to the start for guidance. After I meet someone I read all about their sign and compatibility to my crazy Gemini ways.

I do not use this information to judge them, but I do try to use it as a way to get to know the person or as a way to better understand them.

Does that seem weird?

I am curious to know what you think.

  1. I can't see how people can make a judgement of someone else's suitability to be a partner based on astrology.

The idea that the position of the planets when a person is born determines their character, their personality, has to be flawed.

Surely personality is a function of the brain, the interconnection of the nuerons, of the chemical messengers that pass between them.

We can predict approximately when a baby will be born, but rarely do they come out on exactly the predicted day, (I came out a month early!), so for astrology to be true, the planets would have to have a physical influence on the structure, composition of the brain *at* the point of birth.

Why at birth, why wouldn't the planets have an effect say, one day, one week, one month before the point of birth? What is it, what is nature and cause of the interaction of the planets on babies brains, eithe before birth or *at* the point of birth, which then leads to it determing their personality 18 years later?

Help me out on this one..

  2. People mostly tend to read *their* horoscope.
A gemini tends to read most of the time the gemini horroscope and rarely reads the horoscopes of other star signs.

I've read my gemini horoscope many times and found that it applies to me, in some cases quite strongly.

Then once or twice over the years I read a few other horoscopes and found that they too applied to me.

Human beings are very complex creatures, and my belief is, we all have the same traits to differing degrees, a horoscope - for a gemini - regularly talks about the intelligent nature of geminis, of their ability to rapidly jump from one topic to another and have lots of energy.

From the intelligence perspective, I'm sure that applies to many, many people, and many are not geminis. I'm sure lots of other non-geminis have high mental energy too.
Just in differing degrees and so a given horoscope written for a particular starsign will apply to differing degrees to other star signs..

    That's my theory.

I like to think I'm in control of my own destiny, and that the idea that my personality is predetermined at the point of my birth, I just don't buy it.

I would suggest my personality is a result of a number of things, one of which being my upbringing, the family environment, the beliefs and attitudes of my parents I am sure is a major factor, my school environment, what experiences I had with others during child hood.

  3. In my attempts at dating, I have found I am regularly asked what star sign I am.

I'm a gemini, and when I answer, I often find that I am rejected right there and then, often with the comment "Are you two faced?".

The very thought I am rejected without the lady getting to know me for who I am is inappropriate I feel.

So often have I been asked what star sign I am, and the exact same response from many women, I've taken to not providing a truthful answer anymore. I'm not too well-up on the star signs and by chance, when asked, the star sign I responded with happened to be a good match for the lady concerned, and you should have seen her expression light up on her face when she thought she was compatible with me.
    The date went well!

It's interesting to see how these preconceptions of what people will be like colour their judgement of the other.

It reminds me of an experiment that was conducted: A group of men and women. A man was to date a woman, the woman was told either by another that a) the man she would be meeting was very nice, and b) the man wasn't very nice
and the date was to take place and afterwards the women's view on their male dates canvassed.

The outcome? The women that were told that the guy was nice, felt he was nice. The women that were told the man wasn't nice, felt that the man wasn't nice.

The woman's view of the man was being influenced by what she was being told by another woman prior to the date taking place.

  4. I am a Gemini too. I agree with everything you posted, and everything other people just posted. I can't really say I fully stand behind either. All I know is I'm fuckin crazy, but all woman are labeled that way. So I can either blame the stars or the fact that I have boobs and a vagina.

  5. If you are going through troubled times in your life, consider wearing zodiac rings. These rings can not only bring good luck in your life, they can completely change your fortune.
